We adopt the ethos of the Mental Health Act, 2001;
When making a decision about the care and treatment of a person, due regard shall be given to the need to respect the right of the person to dignity, bodily integrity, privacy and autonomy.
The fundamental principle underpinning mental health care enshrined in the Mental Health Act, 2001 is that the interests of the service users are paramount.
The Act emphasises, when making a decision concerning the care or treatment of a person the best interests of the person shall be the principal consideration.
